"The merit of all things lies in their difficulty."

PR: 9.3/10

Breath taking! A real adventure entwined with a historical event.

Dumas's The Three Musketeers astonished me, surprised me and was a real page turner. I cannot believe all this while I thought that this was a kid's book, so wrong was I. Its such a kickass story that I am kicking my own sorry ass for always trying to avoid reading it.

The more I say about this book is less.

The story is about a, quite chivalrous, Quixotic young man, d'Artagnan, who seeks a position in Monsieur de Treville's Musketeers, recommended by his father who is a friend of the latter. Here he gets acquainted with the three musketeers: Athos, Porthos and Aramis. All three of the musketeers were, definitely strange men, hilarious in their own ways and very, reliable though at some points, very miserable; the literal "Inseparables".

As the story goes on, we see our fellow, d'Artagnan, moving forward as he comes across many a people, both friends and enemies. One of the arch enemies he acquires were the man from Meung, Rochefort, and His Eminence, Cardinal Richelieu.

Cardinal Richelieu is a very eccentric man who would go to extreme points just to have his own end met.

Another arch enemy our young fellow as well as our three musketeers make is, the actual sole antagonist of this novel, Milady, Lady de Winter.

So many villains, antagonists I've read about, but none compares to this vicious serpent, a demon incarnate. Her crimes are horrendous, her soul pitch black and her body, beautiful and glimmering in youth. She is an ideal seductress who knowingly takes advantage of it. The worst of her victim is poor Felton whom, the reader will come across as they read.

This book has been a real page turner and it is really heartbreaking that unfortunately, like all good things, this came to an end. But, as I've been informed, this book has two more sequels.

This is clearly one of the best book I've ever read and I mean it. I enjoyed this book to point of binge-reading it even at 3 in the morning.

There are many wonderful characters such as Madam Bonacieux, Monsieur de Treville, Lord de Winter, Duke of Buckingham: George Villiers and many more. Some of them even historical as some events are a part of history in this book.

So quickly grab your own copy and remember the words:

"One for all, all for one

United we stand, divided we fall."

Thank your for reading!
