"Nothing is so painful to the human mind as a great and sudden change."
PR: 8.5/10
What happens when your curiosity with science and life leads to something devastating? How would you react if what you hoped would be the salvation of your deeds is the very destroyer of it? What if you try to play God and in creating your own Adam, you create rather the Fallen Angel?
We all have heard so much about the name Frankenstein.
Yet the name Frankenstein, or rather Victor Frankenstein is not what we think it is to be. Victor Frankenstein is a man of science, rebellious in his beliefs. He was the creator of what was going to be one of the largest "monster" in the horror genre, yet after reading the novel I realize how pathetically sad this novel is, filled with nothing horrific but justifying philosophy and reasoning.
One of the best known science fiction and gothic-novel, Frankenstein, even though an easy read, is very VERY INTERESTING. It keeps you glued till the very end and is a real page turner.
The fact that the so called "monster" was abhorred by his own creator, is, but the very metaphor which can be applied to us humans. Frankenstein tried playing God, giving life to something that belongs to the earth and hopelessly fails.
Later after his success, he's deprived of his aim. He loathes his own creation. And imagine what this living creature must go through, who is of a very different species and knows not a soul in this entire world but his master and creator who ends up puking at his very disturbing sight? Yes.
I feel so bad for this creature because the real monster here isn't the creation but the creator (could this too be a metaphor towards God's creation of Man? Since this creation isn't going anywhere fruitful and peace).
You literally feel for the creature and his anger and revenge is justified. His haunts his creator until the end of times. He takes away everyone Frankenstein holds dear to. And slowly he makes him feel how he himself feels. Mad with loneliness.
This bizarre creature was like the empty vessel, ready to be filled with love, but was rather filled with hatred and abomination.
I'd suggest you read this no matter what specific genre you like, you'll absolutely love this.
Thank you for reading!
