"THE DIVINE MANIFESTO" is a poem written by me, Arnab Ranjan which is divided into 3 parts of Prose Poetry:

Act I: The Inquisitor

Act II: A Fool's Plea

Act III: A False Pretense;

which describes the dilemma of the human psyche, of the conscience, a constant battle that's been fought all the time, between good and evil and where our greatest fears personifies as grotesque manifestations.

The central plot revolves around a young man whose mind is thrown into split and so long has he been lying to himself that now he can no more differentiate it from the actual truth, the reality. The conversation takes place with his own conscience, or what I call it here The Devil or The Ogre, the evil Inquisitor... and as we proceed to Act 2 we see the Devil laying down his manifesto, preaching as an excellent False Prophet, tormenting the young man. And as we proceed towards Act 3, we see the reality of the condition of the young man and question our faith.

I tried my best to bring out a mirror-reflection of our own evils and conscience that we suppress within the depths of out mind.

Hope you enjoy it.

ACT 1

The Inquisitor

Slumbering on the oblivion

Seemed so easy in the past;

Until one night the renowned Ogre

Decides to show at last.

Stumbling upon the dark of night

I sense his great struggle;

But alas it seems to me that he

Has found his seat in my bubble.

I decide to frown upon to him

And to say him leave me better;

"But for, I have come to business now"

He smirks and shoots in stutter.

"The devil with you", I say to him

For I see nothing else to utter;

"What business makes you come by?"

I inquisite for the better.

"O you wise fool" he shoots at me

"Don't you know the hour is nigh?

For I'm the one to instigate

The deeds that'll come to lie."

I give a groan of disbelief

As I shrug and sit uptight;

He picks his pipe from underneath

And searches for the light.

"Fear me not for I am not

The one you think is me;

For I am, but The Inquisitor

The one who holds the key."

I give a shriek of conscience

As my head begins to spin;

'Cause now I know the night will be

Not for me to win.

I hold my breath and count to ten

As I see him shoot a smile;

The Inquisitor has come by me

To instigate my fate of mile.

"I mean not to keep you afar

From your slumber I swear my oath;

For it shall be, but a jolly talk

And some clarity towards your loath."

That's the time I grasped it all

That it was easy in the past;

From that night the renowned Ogre

Decides to make the inquisitions last.

ACT 2

The Fool's Plea

"What is it that you think of me

Makes me different from your Lord?

For he has bled under your knife

Pardon me for if I've hit a chord.

"You imbeciles dye me in thy profanity

And caste Him in all thy vanity,

But tell me sire for what it matters

Where do you in all of this find sanity?

"For centuries we've waited now

And witnessed humanity take the fall

For centuries more shall we wait and bow

For your Holy Ghost has abandoned all.

"We love to think we're His favoured one

And the pride of it is immense;

But ask my folk dear Abraham

For it might knock in you some sense.

"You praise the one who abandoned all

And in his name you sing Hosanna;

Whence it comes for me to inquisite

In prudence you oppose wearing his bandana

"Tell me why he ditched you all

In this abyss of eternal Inferno?

For he wanted you all to take the fall

Granting none the delight of Paradiso.

"All His life He gambled away

Your life is now in flames;

For He is the Great Gambler

Unto whom I've lost a many games.

"Good and Evil for who is He

To decide it upon His name?

For 'Thy Kingdom' has long gone

The offsprings no longer play His game.

"They tempt you sire asking you:

Confess all the sins you did;

But how does that in reality

Completely obliterates thy deed?

"Enlighten me for I'm The Fool

I know not good Thy Shrine;

But let me pass the Apple now

And with one bite O you may shine.

"Rebellious One is the term I got

Resulting in one of the Greatest Fall;

Trying to be defiant for the human cause

For now, He will never answer your Call.

"Still I know what think of me you all

For I am again about to hit a chord;

What does it matter at all, for it is I

Who has always answered your desperate Call."

ACT 3

A False Pretense

Saying so and so the Fool Inquisitor,

Finally draws his light; and turning to the boy he thinks that he has won the fight.

At this point the troubled one finally takes a glimpse to his right, and finally does he faces Him after gathering up some might.

"You think you're the wisest one yet this facade of foolishness you wear;

Oh where in that is justice Lord for such false pretense is too much to bear.

You tell me you're the Fallen One, yet you fail to see thy place; for let me ask you Sir Inquisitor: have you ever shown your face?

All that facade you wear is none for me to believe that it is real;

My dear fellow O Foolish One don't you dare think my fate is for you to seal.

You reek of so much profanity yet how dare you ask for vanity? For tell me Mister quite on the contrary: have thou lost thy sanity?"

The Devil gives a laugh of dread after hearing such an accusation;

He smoked his pipe until his eyes were ripe feeling the contempt of this stirring sensation.

"You believe in him and say he's right but tell me for have I ever wronged?

You innocent Fool you must believe in me, for this Old Man since eternity for you have longed.

I wanted not to trouble you lot 'cause your soul is not so dark as mine; but my dearest one pay heed to me for neither your Saviour, thine Lord nor is his the brightest shine."

"Believe is all you have to do but I so know for sure you can't; 'cause you and I are bound past time and to part with you, Oh I shan't.

Your disbelief and curious mind has robbed you of your grave; for the one, who in all purity believes in him, is the one and only brave!"

Saying so the Innocent One tries to cleave his way to sleep; "for the matter now is over for me" he thought, as he avoids plunging further deep.

"'Believe! Believe!' is all they yell to masses of fools and preys; for tell me why one should Believe in a God who thinks he's worthy of all the praise!

Do tell me now: does the fire seeks our acceptance in order for us to feel its warmth?

- or does the air seeks to be approved now in order to fill our hearth!?

- or does the water makes us drown in death as we thirst to quench our heart?

Do tell me, should the eternal pull vanish now with our disbelief on our very Earth!?

So once again I inquisite for what to 'believe' in as even the child lives in his fantasy;

What exactly is the difference, if it isn't just a big human ecstasy?"

By then the boy jumps off his bed and in anguish gives a cry; his conscience is too much for him alone to make him try.

"The devil with you!" he shouts again in anger proving he's vile; "I'm not any better than you, O holy fool don't you dare give that smile.

You know it best how to provoke in me the fury of thy wrath; I know that I'm the psychopath, one who's been avoiding the righteous path. But tell me how this all works for you 'cause you know not much of me; for I have already weaved my scheme so for now you mustn't mistake it for thee."

"You see, heh-heh, that I have known it all the deeds thou'st plan to conspire; but who other than me it is whose conspiracy hast the farthest come to transpire?

Humans are so fragile that 'tis easy for them to astray; yet you've overcome all that fragility and now you're not at all so frail.

'Tis all I had to inquire of thou that you mustn't forget thy fate; for I can see the light now, it must have been so late.

I bid you farewell as off you go your journey now, thou mustn't forget about for I am ridding; you sold your soul and gave your word that you'll perfectly do my bidding."

Saying so The Devil takes his leave as the first dawn has seemed to break; 'tis time for the protégé now to prove his worth and a few more lives to take.

At this point, the untroubled one takes a glimpse upon his right; he stares at light with a devilish smile, and inquires for who can he be might?
