Personal Rating: 8.5/10
Readers, readers, and dear readers, this book belongs to you! First of all, this story is directly addressed to the reader.
Jane Eyre needs no introduction, we all have heard of it, if at least not read it, want to read it. I took it up because I wanted to try the Brontë sisters. I absolutely loved Jane Eyre more, way more than Wuthering Heights. This novel was more reasonable and sound.
The story is about a young orphan, Jane Eyre, who lives with her cruel aunt and suffers throughout her childhood. Her aunt hated her to the point where she had to send her to an institution for girls, Lowood. Soon she made a reputation in her school, and after Eight Years, she was now a young woman of Eighteen.
She takes up a job as a governess for a child where she meets her master, Mr. Edward Fairfax Rochester, with whom she ends up falling in love.
They both get intimate slowly as the plot brims up and at once are soon to be wed. But no sooner did things seem to settle, tragedy befalls and their fate gets ever more complicated. Life is simply not simple, never simple.
We come to see, what demise befalls them both. Jane's nightmare comes true.
Blame it on the consequences of Rochester's action for hiding his lunatic wife, shutting her up, or just a tragic fate, you can't help but pity him.
The story is no wonder very well written and, though dry at parts, which is only obvious, this novel entraps the reader, making them curious.
This classic tale and a masterpiece of Literature stay fresh and appealing as ever and shall remain for the times to come.
An absolutely fantastic and classy read.
Thank you for reading.
